
The 2022 Carlsberg Golf Classic came to an enjoyable end with the staging of the Naional Finals at the award-winning Kota Permai Golf & Country Club on October 28.
The finale saw Gwee Li Jun win the gross title to take home a a Titoni Slenderline Quartz timepiece and Mohd Hisham emerge as the nett champion to win a Garmin Approach S62 smartwatch. They both also earned invitations to play at the World Amateur Golfers Championship happening on November 16 at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
The National Finals was an exhilarating day indeed for the finalists and invited guests, marking the culmination of the popular series' successful return after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. Known as ‘Probably the Smoothest Golf Tournament’, this year's edition saw more than 3,800 golfers tee off at 32 participating golf clubs nationwide.

“This year, the 27th edition of the Carlsberg Golf Classic tournament was yet another huge success and delivered more fun on the green, making this competitive yet enjoyable tournament even better.

“I hardly join golf tournaments, but when I do, I play to win. I’ve been playing golf since I was young and it has been 19 years for me. I certainly enjoyed myself during this tournament and plan to participate in future Carlsberg Golf Classics,” said Gwee.
Hisham added: “This was my first time successfully making it to the Carlsberg Golf Classic national finals. I feel really happy to have won and would like to thank Carlsberg for organising and sponsoring everything. I also look forward to playing again in the years to come.“

Wonder Chang drew cheers of wonder when he scored the first ever hole-in-one in a Carlsberg Golf Classic National Finals to claim the ‘Adidas Dress Like A Pro’ outfit set worth RM2,000.
The National Finals was followed by the Carlsberg Golf Festival, which delivered a brilliant celebratory conclusion to the tournament in true Carlsberg fashion. Special activities curated to elevate the non-stop fun element included hot air balloon rides, 'The Smoothest Putt' challenge, 'Mini Neon Golf' and Giant Jenga.

Golf and lifestyle came together in stunning fashion during this year’s Malaysian edition of the OMEGA Trophy, which teed off at the prestigious Saujana Golf & Country Club on September 8.
Luxury Swiss watchmaker OMEGA hosted its customers and guests to a memorable day out in the by-invitation-only event, organised by MST Golf Events at Saujana’s scenic and challenging Bunga Raya Course.

The five-star experience commenced from the moment golfers dropped their bags and culminated in a fabulous dinner at the award-winning Senja Restaurant at The Saujana Hotel.
The format of play was Scramble, with participants grouped in teams of three, where the best shot is chosen each time and all players hit from that spot until the ball is holed out.

The Team Scramble format saw a lot of chatter and laughter as the players cheered each other’s good shots. It also made for a speedy and stress-free round, befitting the event's main objective of providing an enjoyable and bespoke experience to players.
The prizegiving dinner was an experience in itself as participants enjoyed classy, sit-down dining, while being able to view displays of OMEGA’s iconic watches and the brand’s long-standing partnership with golf.

OMEGA’s worldwide golf presence includes timekeeping roles for some of the world’s top events and title sponsorship of the Omega European Masters since 2001. OMEGA is also the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games.

Glenmarie Golf & Country Club is organising the Longest Drive 2022 presented by Mazda, which will feature thee qualifying rounds leading up to a grand final.
Open to all amateur golfers, the competition will be held at the first hole of Glenmarie's Garden Course and will be split into three categories, namely Open Men, Open Ladies and Senior Men (60 years and above).
The three qualifying rounds will take place on October 6, October 20 and November 3, from 3pm to 6.30pm. The top three from each category will prgress to the grand final, which will be staged on December 1 starting from 4pm.
Each participant will be given 10 attempts which they must complete within five minutes. Only drives that stay within the fairway (closely mown area) and between the fairway markers will be eligible for distance recording.
Prizes include cash vouchers, green fee vouchers and hotel stay vouchers to be enjoyed at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club and/or Glenmarie Hotel & Golf Resort.
The entry fee is for the qualifying rounds is RM106, while the grand final fee is RM53. Each participant will receive goodies worth more than RM100.

Sustainability and Inclusivity were the buzzwords during the adidas Golf Day at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club on September 13.
More than 100 golfers comprising members of MST Golf’s ilovegolf loyalty programme and invited guests teed off at Glenmarie’s scenic and challenging Valley Course. The fun-oriented event showcased adidas’ sustainability and inclusivity efforts through innovative on-course activations, and even the goodies given out reflected adidas’ commitment to sustainability via the brand’s ‘End Plastic Waste’ campaign.
Each player received an adicross Three Below polo shirt and adidas Golf Performance cap, both made mainly with recycled material, and an adidas water bottle – all packed nicely in an adidas Woven Bag.

In addition to the novelty contests, golfers were pleasantly surprised by three special adidas holes – the Inclusivity Hole at the par-three 15th, Sustainability Hole at the par-four 16th, and ‘Hug The CodeChaos’ at the par-five 2nd.
The Inclusivity Hole rewarded every golfer who found the green with their tee shots with a prize. To ensure that the contest was as inclusive as possible, the forward tees were used and many of the participants managed to hit the putting surface to walk off with their choice of an adidas lunchbox, adidas metal straws, adidas metal shoe horn or adidas reusable face mask.
The Sustainability Hole was a hive of activity as golfers were invited to pose free-style with the End Plastic Waste props next to the teebox. Each and every golfer was given a cool adidas Recycle Key Chain for their creative efforts!

At the ‘Hug The CodeChaos’ hole, golfers who landed within a circle surrounding a huge replica of the new CodeChaos shoe were rewarded with an adidas Play Green Bag Tag.
Joining in the fun and festivities were adidas Golf’s Commercial Director for Southeast Asia and Pacific, Tan Ying Sze, adidas Golf Malaysia’s Senior Manager for Commercial and Exports, Eileen Fong, adidas Golf’s Head of Marketing for Southeast Asia, Ken Sim, MST Golf Managing Director KP Low and MST Golf Director Datuk James Pang, along with numerous adidas Golf ambassadors.

Muhamad Haniff Abu Bakar emerged as the winner with a System 36 Nett Stableford score of 40 points. He took home an adidas Golf cart bag, CodeChaos RC BOA shoes, and an adidas ‘Dress Like A Pro’ product voucher worth RM2,500.
“The adidas Golf Day was a really fun and friendly event and I had a great time! I’ve been an ilovegolf member for six or seven years and play regularly in the events,” said Haniff, who hails from Segamat in Johor.
“The special adidas holes added to the fun and gave everyone a chance to win some cool adidas merchandise,” added the 34-year-old.

Jung Youngguk and Saharan Kasim also scored 40 points and were placed second and third respectively following a countback. They both won adidas Golf cart bags, CodeChaos lace shoes and adidas product vouchers.
The novelty holes saw Syaifulmizan Zainudin topping the Nearest To Line contest at Hole 6 with a drive that settled 60cm from the line, while Tan Wee Siong was just 7.62m from the flag at Hole 12 to win the Nearest To Pin contest. Both players won adidas duffle bags.
Lady Luck however was not smiling on the participants as no one managed to score an ace at the par-threes and claim the Hole-In-One prize of adidas Golf products worth RM10,000.

Lady Luck did smile on eight participants whose scorecards were pulled in the Lucky Draw, winning them handsome prizes including adidas products, Heathland vouchers and Garmin Approach golf watches.

It was a great day out indeed for more than 100 golfers in the MST Golf TaylorMade ilovegolf Tournament, staged at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) on Wednesday, August 24.
Consisting of members of MST Golf’s ilovegolf loyalty programme, the participants teed off at KLGCC’s stunning East Course in bright and sunny conditions.
Joining in the fun on the fairways was TaylorMade Greater China General Manager, Ken Yeo, TaylorMade Southeast Asia Senior Manager for Sales Business Development, Simon Sim, MST Golf Managing Director KP Low and KLGCC General Manager Steven Tan.

The main competition saw some excellent scores signed in, while those whose games were not firing on all cylinders still had a chance to win prizes at the numerous novelty holes.
Participants were also able to test their skills against TaylorMade staff professionals CM Chong and Lawrence Lau in the Beat The Pro Challenge at the par-three 5th hole. Each golfer who was able to get his tee shot closer to the pin than the two professionals, who took turns to play the hole against each flight, was rewarded with a sleeve of TaylorMade Soft Response golf balls.
The Stealth Experience at the par-four 3rd hole saw TaylorMade professionals Nate Stevenson and Roger Loo stationed at the teebox with a bagful of the new Stealth drivers featuring revolutionary Carbonwood technology. Participants had the option of using one of the Stealth drivers for their first counting drive, or use their own drivers and hit a test second shot using a Stealth.

After 18 holes of competition, Zaily Jamaluddin emerged as the 2022 champion with a superb score of 41 Stableford points off a System 36 handicap of 11. Zaily’s handsome reward was a set of TaylorMade Stealth Irons worth RM6,120.
“I was chipping and putting well today, and I had some luck too. It was just my day,” said Zaily, a businessman who has been an ilovegolf member for more than five years.
“The venue is very good, the organization was excellent, and we enjoyed some fine weather today as well,” he added.
Runner-up honours went to Jung Young Guk with a score of 39 points, edging third-placed Amin Maliki on countback. Jung won himself a TaylorMade Stealth Driver worth RM3,590, while Amin went home with a TaylorMade Spider Putter worth RM2,200. Prizes were given out to the top 10 finishers.

The Nearest To Pin novelty contest at Hole 15 was won by Mohd Rezwan Abdul Razak with a tee shot that stopped 11 inches from the hole, earning him a TaylorMade Milled Grind Wedge.
Ken Lee Chee Weng hit the most accurate drive at Hole 11, just three inches from the line to win the Nearest To Line contest. Sim You Jin meanwhile hit a massive 276-metre tee shot at Hole 15 to top the Longest Drive contest. Both golfers won TaylorMade Select Plus Stand Bags.
“I would like to thank the sponsors and our ilovegolf members for all your support over the years. I am proud to say that we have participants from Ipoh, Melaka, Kelantan and Johor,” said Low during the lunch prizegiving.
Numerous lucky draw prizes were given out, including TaylorMade products, Healthland vouchers, MST Golf Arena vouchers and the grand prize of a Garmin Approach S60 GPS Smart Watch.
