Kelly Tan is looking forward to spending some quality time at home for the final stretch of Chinese New Year following a solid start to her 2022 LPGA campaign.

The Malaysian number one finished T38 in the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio and followed up with an excellent T20 performance in the LPGA Drive On Championship, both held in Florida. She arrived in Malaysia on February 8.

"I’m supposed to quarantine at home for five days and then I’ll get to see my family and friends. I’ll be taking a test everyday just to make sure those around me at home are safe too," said Kelly, whose hometown is Batu Pahat, Johor.

"I should be able to see the rest of the family on Chap Goh Mei and that should be fun! My next tournament is the JTBC Classic in Carlsbad, California on March 24-27, so I plan to go back around March 13," added the 28-year-old.

Kelly noted that having fiancé Dusty Lattery on the bag over the last few weeks was a big plus. "We worked really well together in the Q-Series and he knows my game and knows how I react under pressure really well. I’m just glad that it all worked out that he was able to come and caddy in the first two events of the year, and juggle his work around it.

"We are hoping that he can manage his business while caddying as he really enjoys it ... and I know he’s the best person on my bag!"

The other key to her solid start, Kelly added, was consistency.

"I played very consistently both weeks even though I didn’t putt very well ... it’s encouraging to know that I can easily be in contention if a couple more putts had dropped! "But overall everything feels good and I look forward to my six weeks off before my next tournament, to prepare for it," she stressed.
