Malcolm Ting led 27 qualifiers from the PGM Qualifying School at Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam, carding a final round 68 to top the leaderboard with an impressive 54-hole total of 13-under-par 203.

Ting finished a massive 10 shots ahead of fellow amateur Zia Izzuddeen Rashid who also closed with 68. In third place was yet another amateur, Nasrullah Zulkifli, who signed off with a round of 74.

"I made a lot of putts this week compared to my last few events. I'm happy that I got my PGM card," said Ting, who hails from Miri in Sarawak.

"I'm playing SUKMA next week and then I'll go back for the Miri Open. After that, I plan to turn pro and play the PGM Northport at Glenmarie ...  but I'll need to discuss that with my grandfather first," added the 20-year-old.

All players who finished with totals of 15-over-par or better were eligible for PGM Tour cards and had to undergo an orientation program to familiarise themselves with the tour's bye-laws and code of conduct. The qualifiers included one lady, professional Yip Sean Yi.
