Malaysian number one Gavin Green chalked up his best finish on the DP World Tour (European Tour) in more than two years with a superb T5 performance in the USD2 million Commercial Bank Qatar Masters yesterday.
The long-hitting Green recovered from a first round 77 with subsequent scores of 67, 69 and 71 at Doha Golf Club for a total of four-under-par 284, three shots behind winner Ewen Ferguson of Scotland. Green's last top five finish on the European circuit was T3 at the Saudi International in February 2020.
Green picked up his first Race To Dubai points of the season and is currently in 108th spot. This was his third start on the DP World Tour this year, following missed cuts at the Ras al Khaimah Championship in mid-February and the Magical Kenya Open earlier this month.
Last month, Green won on home soil in the PGM Tour's Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy, edging veteran Danny Chia by one shot at Saujana Golf & Country Club.
